MIPS PI Quick Start: Provide Patients Electronic Access to Their Health Information

Measure Overview Medicare Goal
This measure reports the number of patients who have timely access to view, download, and transmit their personal health information on the patient portal after every visit during the performance period. The practice must make it possible for the patient to access their health information, using any application of their choice, through an application program interface (API).

At least 1 patient in numerator

Setup Requirements

You must configure which lab results are available on the Greenway Patient Portal to be compliant for this measure. If your Prime Suite system is setup to send no results to the patient portal, you will be out of compliance for this measure.

You must specify in Prime Suite Reporting 2020 which state and federal holidays your practice will be closed to ensure timely access calculations are accurate for your practice.

Denominator

Patients with at least one non-voided face-to-face visit during the performance period.

The performance period is set in Prime Suite Reporting 2020.

Numerator

Patients where the following actions were taken within 4 business days of their visit:

  • The patient was invited to the patient portal indicated by the Patient Portal Invite or Patient Portal flag. If the patient declines portal access, the Patient Portal Invite flag must be manually added to the patient's chart.
  • The patient was provided with an API token indicated by the Patient Token flag. If the patient declines API access, the API Opt-out flag must be added to their chart.
  • The provider signed their visit note(s).
  • The provider made the Clinical Visit Summary available if the patient is registered for the patient portal. If they are not registered, this step is not necessary.
  • The provider signed all outside labs and imaging reports within 4 business days of the report being saved to the patient's chart.
